Web Page Design Module 10: Positioning Content with CSS and Tables

Table Attributes
Tables are placeholders made up of small boxes or cells similar to what you would see in an Excel spreadsheet. You created a table using table tags in the first module of this course. In Dreamweaver you insert a table by using the Table button in either the Common or Layout category on the Insert panel. You can also use the Menu bar to access the Table commands. The following is a picture of the table dialog box that appears when you insert a table. Notice the table attributes available: table width, border thickness, cell padding, and cell spacing.

Tables can be formatted with CSS rules just like any other elements in a Dreamweaver web page. You can also adjust the table cells by splitting or merging them. Splitting a cell divides it into multiple rows or columns, while merging cells combines multiple adjacent cells into one cell. split and merged cells

Now it is your turn to design a page using a predesigned CSS layout and table to store data for The Striped Umbrella and Blooms and Bulbs websites. The Background Building Activities for Module 10 will lead you through this process.
